The Yearly Recap — 2023

A tradition I kicked off at the end of 2022, to look back on a bunch of work from throughout the year, something I rarely do. I guess I’ve always appreciated the forward motion—an instinct of momentum in seeking new perspectives with photos. Although I must admit, I enjoyed putting together a few stills from 2022, so I thought I’d do the same this year. Rather than compile my favourites I’ve set myself some parameters. 1 x photo from each of the calendar month that best sums it up.

Without further ado, here are 12 photos from 2023.

Backcountry New Zealand

January

Home for New Year. Time spent with the family back in New Zealand and finding some new places in the back country.

Surfing Australia

February

Summer in Australia. 40ºc days and literally most days spent by the ocean.

Mountain Climbing

March

A week in Queenstown climbing the surrounding peaks in late summer. I also celebrated my 40th birthday.

Surfer in a wave

April

Local headlands in Lennox Head. It’s always a place I come to photograph when the swell conditions are right. Your bound to find some great surfers as subjects.

Coffee machine in Landrover

May

This was my biggest production to date. I teamed up with La Marzocco Home to showcase their newest home espresso machine from a different perspective. “Take the Cafe with You” was born out of the inspiration to adventure with espresso.
You can view the complete project on the link.

Trek Gravel Bike

June

In June I found a new hobby. The love for gravel biking and exploring at a faster pace. Is anyone keen to join on a gravel biking adventure? let me know.

July

The home coffee set-up! A chrome Linea Micra from La Marzoccco.

Surfing

August

The surf conditions are good again in Lennox Head. The cooler temps bringing the softer light of winter.

September

A quieter month, mostly spent in the studio. Although I did manage to visit a couple of spots in the mountains of NSW that I hadn’t visited before.

Hiking New Zealand

October

October was mostly spent in New Zealand working with the team at Wilderness Motorhomes on a tourism project. We travelled the south island for many days looking for places unseen. You can view the project on the link

Oru Kayak

November

A local based project with Oru Kayak.

Canon Printer

December

To wrap up 2023 I worked closely with the team at Canon Australia on bringing print projects to life. Look out in the coming weeks of 2024 as I share a short film & photo project with both the Australian & New Zealand Canon teams.

Lastly, thanks. I hope you enjoyed the recap.
